Getting to know | Daniel Johnson

Tell us about your job at Atlas Professionals?

I am currently working on the Transocean Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 drillship as a Marine Engineer. I joined the rig nearly a year ago and completed a successful campaign over in China. Now we are drilling in the Jansz field off Barrow Island.

What's the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is the DP3 experience I am gaining as an engineer and the exposure to all different types of machinery platforms. The job is quite challenging at times because there is always a lot of equipment that always needs maintaining. But I enjoy the pressure and I like working in a team environment.

What do you do to relax?

In my spare time after work I am currently studying to obtain my 1^st engineers ticket but if my head isn’t in the books, I will always be at the gym.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be and why?

If I could live anywhere in the world for a year it would be San Francisco. Whilst travelling around America it was my favourite place. I’ve got an addiction for American BBQ and I love all American sports, if I lived there, I would attend every sporting event possible.
