On Saturday 31 January 2026, Atlas NextWave hosted the Atlas local content networking event at the Torarica Banquet Hall in Paramaribo, bringing together government leadership, industry experts, education institutes, and the next generation of Surinamese talent at a defining moment in the country’s energy journey. The event marked an important step in strengthening local content by connecting ambition with opportunity and aligning local capability with international Oil & Gas standards.

The event was attended by the Vice President of Suriname, whose presence underscored the national importance of local content development and workforce readiness. His participation sent a clear signal of the relevance of this initiative for the wider community and highlighted the shared responsibility of government, industry, and education in building a sustainable energy workforce for Suriname.

The programme featured open and practical contributions from organisations active across the offshore energy value chain. Speakers shared realistic perspectives on professional expectations, operational discipline, and long-term career pathways, offering valuable guidance to young professionals preparing for international operations. Contributions were made by representatives from Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V., SBM Offshore, Fugro, Natin Suriname, the Maritime Suriname Institute, and SLB, alongside additional international operators, service providers, and local stakeholders active in Suriname’s offshore energy sector.
