VP Investment Lead - Infrastructure & Energy Transition

A global investment management firm is seeking an Investment Leader to originate, execute, and manage energy transition investments across South Korea. The role will lead acquisitions, financings, and portfolio growth while working closely with an experienced international investment team.

    Job description

VP / Investment Director - Renewable Energy & Infrastructure

    Seoul, South Korea

A leading global investment management firm is seeking a senior investment professional to support the growth of its renewable energy investment platform in South Korea.

The role will focus on onshore renewable energy opportunities, with responsibility across both investment origination and transaction execution. The successful candidate will identify and develop new investment opportunities, lead commercial and financial evaluation, negotiate with counterparties and support transactions through to closing.

The role will also work closely with major strategic partners in Korea, including through an established partnership with major Korean conglomerate, providing exposure to a strong pipeline of renewable energy and development opportunities.

This is a senior buy-side opportunity for an investment professional who combines origination capability, transaction execution experience and strong commercial understanding of renewable energy markets, including PPAs and project development.

    Key Responsibilities

    Investment Origination & Development

    • Originate and evaluate investment opportunities across South Korea's onshore renewable energy market.

    • Develop relationships with renewable energy developers, IPPs, sponsors, strategic partners, lenders and other market participants.

    • Identify opportunities across operating assets, development projects and new investment platforms.

    • Assess development opportunities, commercial structures and potential investment strategies.

    • Develop and negotiate commercial arrangements, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

    Investment Execution

    • Lead the evaluation and execution of renewable energy investments from initial opportunity through to closing.

    • Undertake financial and commercial analysis, valuation and investment assessment.

    • Work closely with financial models and modelling teams to assess project returns, sensitivities and investment structures.

    • Lead and coordinate commercial, financial, technical and legal due diligence.

    • Support transaction structuring, negotiations and investment committee processes.

    • Manage relationships with counterparties and external advisors throughout the transaction lifecycle.

    Partnership & Portfolio Development

    • Work closely with strategic partners and stakeholders to develop new renewable energy investment opportunities.

    • Support the growth and optimisation of existing investments and development projects.

    • Monitor Korean renewable energy markets, regulation, PPAs and investment trends.

    • Contribute to the firm's broader renewable energy investment strategy in South Korea.

    Candidate Profile

We are looking for an experienced buy-side investment professional with a track record in renewable energy, infrastructure or private equity.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Experience in renewable energy investment, infrastructure investment, private equity, project finance or related buy-side roles.

    • Demonstrable experience across both investment origination and transaction execution.

    • Experience with Korean renewable energy transactions, ideally involving onshore solar or other renewable assets.

    • Strong understanding of PPAs, project development and renewable energy commercial structures.

    • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to work effectively with financial models and investment analysis.

    • Experience managing due diligence, valuation, transaction structuring and negotiations.

    • The ability to independently manage investment opportunities and work with senior internal and external stakeholders.

    • An established network within the Korean renewable energy, infrastructure or investment market.

    • Native Korean and business-level English.

    Preferred Background

Candidates with experience from the following environments will be particularly relevant:

    • Infrastructure / private equity investment firms

    • Renewable energy investment platforms

    • Renewable energy developers / IPPs with significant investment responsibility

    • Institutional investors

    • Investment banking / project finance teams with strong transaction exposure

Experience with onshore renewable energy (particularly Korean solar projects), PPAs, development and Korean investment transactions will be highly valued.

    Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a leading global investment platform and play a significant role in expanding its renewable energy investment activity in South Korea.

The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced international investment team and strategic Korean partners, with significant responsibility for origination, investment execution and development of the Korean pipeline.
