Job description

Contribution and aim
The Mechanic shall contribute to:
· Enhance safety and environmental awareness within his department.
· Create a positive working attitude and atmosphere within his department.
· Good cooperation and coordination between all departments.

The Mechanic shall aim to:
· Execute all maintenance and work tasks in accordance with work and safety procedures.
· Maintain a high maintenance and cleanliness standard in his working areas.

Responsibilities:
· The Mechanic's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· The Mechanic reports to the Technical Assistant who he/she shall keep informed of all matters of significance related to his/her sphere of responsibility.
· He/she shall ensure that all work within his/her area of responsibility is performed in a safe and healthy manner, that the impact on the environment is kept to
· a minimum and that all safety instructions are followed.
· He/she shall assist with the vessel's planned maintenance program and unscheduled maintenance.
· He/she shall undertake repair and fabrication projects under the direction of the Technical Assistant.
· He/she shall maintain workshop cleanliness and integrity of all hand tools.
· He/she shall be trained and familiarized in safe handling of all loose lifting equipment.

Special duties:
· Shall make sure that all written and verbal orders given are understood and complied with.
· Shall participate in safety meetings and preparedness drills on board.
· Shall be familiar with all relevant work and safety procedures given out by the Company and by the charterer (if any), and contribute to the implementation of these.
· Shall be responsible for updating of own on-board training manual and competence matrix.
· Contribute to emergency organization according to Station Bill and Emergency Onboard Duty List.
