We are looking for a Business Manager – HR & Talent Development who leads from the front. Not a traditional HR leader, but a hands-on driver of performance, culture and talent in a fast-growing, international business. You will take ownership of both HR operations and talent development, ensuring our people strategy directly supports business growth at scale. This role is preferably based at our head office in Schiphol, The Netherlands.

Job description

As Business Manager – HR & Talent Development, you are responsible for leading and executing the HR function across Atlas NextWave. You will manage an international HR and Talent Development team, while actively contributing yourself. This is a role for someone who operates both strategically and operationally. You build structure, improve processes and drive performance, but you also roll up your sleeves and deliver. You will be working in a high-performance, meritocratic environment where ownership, accountability and contribution are key.

What you will be doing

HR Leadership & Operations

  • Leading and managing an international HR team (± 5 FTE)
  • Ensuring consistent and efficient HR operations across all regions
  • Overseeing the full employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, performance, retention, offboarding)
  • Managing and improving HR policies, procedures, and systems
  • Ensuring accurate HR administration, reporting, and data management
  • Driving standardisation and continuous improvement of HR processes

Talent Development

  • Leading and managing an international Talent Development team (± 5 FTE)
  • Designing and implementing talent development frameworks
  • Driving performance management and career progression initiatives
  • Supporting leadership development across the organization
  • Ensuring alignment between business needs and talent strategy

Organisational Support & Culture

  • Supporting organizational design and scalability of the business
  • Driving employee engagement and retention initiatives
  • Ensuring HR practices align with company values and performance expectations
  • Contributing to a professional, high-performing, and accountable culture
  • Acting as a driving force behind company culture, ensuring employees actively contribute to the business through collaboration, presence, and engagement rather than a purely transactional employment mindset
  • Encouraging and embedding a culture where employees participate in office life, team interaction, and collective performance, reinforcing ownership, accountability, and contribution across all locations
  • Adherence to the Atlas NextWave’s Integrated Management System

Strategic HR & Projects

  • Contributing to organizational design and workforce planning
  • Providing insights and recommendations on people-related topics
  • Supporting change management and transformation initiatives

Compliance & Employment Law

  • Ensuring compliance with Dutch and UK employment law, as well as relevant international labour regulations across all operating regions
  • Managing HR policies across multiple jurisdictions
  • Handling employee relations and legal matters where required
  • Liaising with external legal advisors

Project Management

  • Leading and delivering HR-related projects (System implementations, process improvements, clear role & responsibility framework within team)
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives within HR
  • Ensuring timely and effective execution of HR priorities

Job requirements

  • A hands-on “doer” who takes ownership and executes
  • 5+ years of HR management experience
  • Experience leading teams of 5–10 people
  • Solid understanding of Dutch & UK employment law and basic knowledge of international HR practices
  • Experience with talent development and performance frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including senior leadership
  • Structured, pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable in a high-performance, meritocratic business, where ownership, accountability, contribution and performance matter way ahead of politics
