Recruitment Fraud Alert: Protecting Seafarers from Scams
Unauthorised individuals are currently impersonating Atlas NextWave representatives – contacting seafarers via WhatsApp, email, calling them by phone and other channels with false job opportunities. In some cases, they even pretend to conduct job interviews before demanding money for recruitment, training, medical tests, visa processing, or other so-called services. We want to make it absolutely clear: these people are not connected to Atlas NextWave.
What Atlas NextWave Will Never Do
- We do not make unsolicited job offers.
- We will never ask candidates to pay money for recruitment, training, medicals, visas, or any other services.
- We only contact seafarers and candidates who have applied through our official channels.
- Our official domain is atlasnextwave.com. Emails from any other domain are not genuine.
Why Scammers Target Seafarers
Atlas NextWave has operated for many years in Riga, Latvia, alongside our offices in Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine. These offices are dedicated to supporting the maritime sector, a vital industry with a large and active community of seafarers. As we continue to grow, our reputation unfortunately makes us more attractive to fraudsters. They exploit the trust in our name to trick hardworking seafarers into transferring money. This behaviour is not only illegal, it is harmful to the maritime community we serve.
How to Protect Yourself
- Be cautious of unsolicited job offers via phone calls, WhatsApp, email, or social media.
- Check the email domain. Genuine communication from Atlas NextWave will always come from @atlasnextwave.com.
- Never send money to anyone claiming to represent Atlas NextWave.
- Verify with us directly if you are unsure.
