Tell us about your job at Atlas Professionals
I am a Catering Officer based in Perth. I work closely with all our Chief Stewards and Chief Cooks on a daily basis to ensure the smooth running of catering operations worldwide. Every day is different – one day I could be overseas setting up and mobilising a new vessel and the next day I might be ensuring all the finances are in order. At times, the opportunity to troubleshoot issues and see my hard work pay off in the long run provides me with a great feeling of accomplishment. I can definitely say that this role keeps me on my toes and I am forever learning new skills and bits of information. 2018 was a big year for our catering department with the Stock Inventory Management System (SIMS) successfully deployed on various vessels with great results. Atlas Professionals catering also went global for the first time, and let’s not forget our fantastic cookbook showcasing some of our cooks’ favourite recipes! With all this in mind, 2019 is gearing up to be yet another busy year.
What’s the best thing about your job
I would have to say the best thing about my job is the opportunity to work closely with such a vast range of different personalities and cultures.
What do you do to relax
I really enjoy going off the grid and camping where there isn’t much use for technology – just my friends and I enjoying each other’s company in nature and eating a little too much food!
If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be and why
I have always had a fascination with the USA. Maybe because I have previously lived in NZ and the UK and only managed to holiday over there. I did manage to spend two months in San Diego and I really enjoyed it.
How long have you worked at Atlas Professionals
January is my 1 year anniversary mark!
