    Atlas Nextwave are sourcing a Senior E & I Designer for one of our clients based in Aberdeen on an initial 12 month contract.

    Job description

    We are seeking an experienced Senior E&I Designer for a 12-month onshore contract based in Aberdeen. This role focuses on executing brownfield modification projects within a drilling facilities environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design & Engineering Execution

    • Deliver E&I design packages for complex brownfield modifications on drilling facilities.
    • Produce and check deliverables including block diagrams, termination schedules, and cable schedules.
    • Update existing asset drawings, loop diagrams, and hazardous area classification layouts.
    • Ensure all designs comply with client specifications, industry codes, and UKCS regulations.

    Project Collaboration & Safety

    • Interface closely with the Lead E&I Engineer to ensure technical integrity and budget compliance.
    • Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and piping disciplines to prevent design clashes.
    • Participate in design reviews, safety audits, and risk assessments (HAZOP/HAZID).


    Surveys & Site Support

    • Prepare comprehensive scopes of work for offshore and onshore site surveys.
    • Occasional offshore travel may be required to execute surveys and verify data.

    Required Experience & Qualifications

    Technical Experience

    • Experience in E&I design within the Oil & Gas sector.
    • Proven track record working on brownfield modification projects in the North Sea.
    • Extensive exposure to drilling facilities and top-side drilling systems.
    • High proficiency in industry-standard design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Intergraph SmartPlant, or AVEVA).


    Certification & Compliance

    • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering.
    • Valid offshore survival certification (BOSIET/FOET, MIST, and OGUK Medical) is highly preferred.
