Atlas NextWave is recruiting for an experienced Site-Based Quality Engineer to support a major infrastructure project in the Highlands of Scotland (with occasional travel to Orkney). This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term contract on a high-profile project within a highly regulated environment.

    Job description

    The Role
Working on-site, you will support the Quality Manager, Project Manager and Site Management team in delivering robust quality assurance throughout construction, installation and project handover activities. The successful candidate will act as the key quality representative on site, ensuring compliance with approved standards, specifications, inspection plans and contractual requirements.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Conducting site audits and inspections across contractors and subcontractors.
    • Reviewing and verifying Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
    • Managing quality records, non-conformances and corrective actions.
    • Supporting FAT/SAT activities and construction inspections.
    • Coordinating quality documentation and handover records.
    • Liaising with clients, project stakeholders and delivery teams.
    • Producing regular quality performance reports and escalating risks where required.

    Essential

    • Lead Auditor qualification.
    • Previous site-based quality engineering experience.
    • Proven experience within construction, infrastructure or project environments.
    • Experience working in highly regulated industries.
    • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
    • Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable

    • National Grid Persons authorisation (or equivalent).
    • Experience on major infrastructure projects.
    • Knowledge of CDM regulations.
    • Chartered Quality Professional status or working towards it.
    • Experience working with clients, regulators or external bodies.

    Important Note
Previous site-based quality engineering experience is essential for this position. Candidates must be comfortable working on site full-time and willing to travel occasionally to Orkney as project requirements dictate.

    What's on Offer?

    • Long-term contract opportunity.
    • Outside IR35 engagement.
    • Opportunity to work on a significant UK infrastructure project.
    • Supportive project environment with a globally recognised engineering organisation.

If you have a strong quality background within construction, energy, utilities or other highly regulated sectors and are looking for your next long-term contract opportunity, we'd like to hear from you.
