Job description

To maximise production OTD >95% to the highest quality standards in order to achieve the budgeted annual output whilst ensuring Health and Safety accountability.

A mechanical fitter for gas turbines works on assembling, maintaining, and repairing gas turbine components and associated equipment. Key responsibilities include reading and following engineering drawings, performing precision fitting and alignment, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols. Experience with mechanical fitting and precision tools is crucial for this role.

How you'll make an impact…

• Assembly and installation: Fit and assemble mechanical systems, sub-assemblies, and components like gas turbine engines, gearboxes, and generators according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Precision fitting and alignment: Use precision measuring equipment like micrometers and laser alignment tools to ensure components and systems are correctly installed and aligned.
• Quality and safety: Conduct quality inspections, identify faults, and perform corrective actions. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Operational tasks: Operate and maintain machinery, use lifting equipment, and accurately record production and maintenance data.
• Good mechanical assembly experience desirable.
• Mechanical Fitting knowledge to City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 - Specific Accepted NVQ's TBA
• Good level of IT competence and ability
• Ensure the highest level of Health and Safety is observed and followed in every aspect within the production environment and every task performed.
• Zero Harm; Understand and ensure the safety basics are in place for all activities.
• STOP; If you believe a process is unsafe STOP the activity and report it.
• Complete all build records and test sheets to the highest quality.
• Plans own work steps in cooperation with other team members.
• Performs a set of qualified assembly operations, in accordance with Package Assembly and Package procedures
• Contributes to plan, execute and analyse results of Module & Package Assembly routines and procedures.
• Assists in resolving routine Packaging manufacturing related problems affecting daily operations.
• Business Improvements, review your daily tasks, look for Quality and Production improvements, complete the Idea Evaluation Form and move your ideas forward.

• Experience: A background in mechanical fitting, mechanical assembly, or a related field is typically required. Experience with rotating equipment and gas turbines is often a significant advantage.
• Technical knowledge: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation is essential. Knowledge of mechanical principles is also necessary.
• Precision: Must be proficient in using precision measuring and alignment tools.
• Safety: A strong commitment to safety and the ability to follow safety procedures are paramount.

Teamwork: Strong communication and teamwork skills are needed to collaborate with other departments and technicians.
