Position Overview
A global renewable energy organization is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to support its operations in Korea.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards across operational and project activities.
This position will work closely with local and regional teams, contractors, customers, and other stakeholders to maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Monitor HSE performance and ensure compliance with Korean regulations, contractual requirements, customer standards, and internal policies.
- Provide professional HSE guidance to operational, engineering, and project teams.
- Conduct and review risk assessments for routine and non-routine activities and establish appropriate preventive measures.
- Support safe execution of field operations, maintenance, retrofit, and other technical activities.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify risks and ensure safe working practices are followed.
- Manage occupational health and workplace risk management activities.
- Support electrical safety programs, including hazardous energy control and LOTO procedures.
- Oversee chemical and hazardous substance safety, including storage, transportation, handling, and disposal.
- Support working-at-height safety programs and related emergency/rescue procedures.
- Work closely with contractors and operational teams to promote strong HSE performance.
- Lead or support investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives following HSE incidents or observations.
- Engage with customers, regulatory authorities, contractors, and internal stakeholders on HSE-related matters.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement across the organization.
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or activities are identified.
- Support HSE planning, reporting, budgeting, and other business requirements as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant professional experience in HSE/EHS within an operational, engineering, energy, industrial, or similarly regulated environment.
- Experience within renewable energy, power generation, wind, heavy industry, construction, or engineering services would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of occupational health, workplace safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
- Practical experience conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Experience working with contractors and field-based operational teams.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, LOTO, working at height, and hazardous substance management is preferred.
- Ability to provide practical HSE guidance and resolve operational safety issues.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to unexpected operational or safety situations.
- Comfortable working in an international and cross-functional environment.
- Proficiency with standard business software and reporting tools.
- Willingness to travel to project and operational sites as required.
- Business-level English communication skills would be advantageous.
