Role Purpose

The Site EHS Advisor is responsible for providing professional Environmental, Health and Safety support to project teams, ensuring compliance with legal, client, and company requirements. The role promotes a strong safety culture, supports operational delivery, and works closely with site management to achieve a zero-harm working environment throughout all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visible EHS leadership and promote a positive safety culture across site activities.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of project EHS plans, procedures, and Safe Systems of Work.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance checks, identifying and addressing risks and non-conformances.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and EHS briefings, ensuring personnel understand project requirements.
• Review risk assessments and method statements, providing advice on appropriate control measures.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with project EHS standards.
• Investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain EHS records, reports, and documentation in line with project and regulatory requirements.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills and emergency response arrangements.
• Prepare and communicate regular EHS performance reports to project stakeholders.
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or behaviours present an immediate risk to people, property, or the environment.

Essential Requirements

• Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety.
• Strong knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Experience in a construction, infrastructure, energy, or industrial environment.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable Qualifications

• Environmental Management qualification.
• Chartered IOSH membership (CMIOSH).
• CDM awareness/training.
• Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001).
• First Aid at Work.
• Experience within the energy or utilities sector.
