Workforce development starts long before the first offshore project is delivered. Through Greenhands Offshore Namibia, we are helping introduce local talent to offshore careers, strengthen workforce readiness and support the sustainable growth of Namibia's energy sector.

The Challenge

Namibia’s offshore energy industry has attracted significant global attention in recent years, creating new opportunities for economic growth, employment and skills development. As activity increases, there is a growing need to ensure local talent is prepared to participate in the industry’s long-term development. Creating awareness of offshore career opportunities, improving workforce readiness and supporting local content objectives are critical components of building a sustainable offshore workforce.

Our Solution

Through Greenhands Offshore Namibia, Atlas NextWave developed and delivered a series of workforce development initiatives designed to introduce local talent to offshore career opportunities and support industry readiness.

Working alongside industry stakeholders, educational institutions and operators, including TotalEnergies, the programme focused on:

  • Offshore career awareness events
  • Workforce readiness initiatives
  • Industry engagement sessions
  • Local content discussions
  • Diversity and inclusion programmes
  • Creating clearer pathways into offshore careers

Activities took place across multiple regions, including Lüderitz, helping connect aspiring professionals with opportunities emerging within Namibia’s growing offshore sector.

The Outcome

Greenhands Offshore Namibia has helped strengthen awareness of offshore career opportunities while supporting broader discussions around workforce development and local capability growth. By bringing together industry stakeholders, employers and aspiring professionals, the initiative has contributed to building a stronger foundation for future workforce participation within Namibia’s offshore energy sector. The programme demonstrates how early investment in workforce development can support both industry growth and local content ambitions in emerging energy markets.

Looking Ahead

As Namibia’s offshore industry continues to evolve, Atlas NextWave remains committed to supporting workforce readiness, local talent development and sustainable industry growth. Through Greenhands Offshore Namibia, we continue to work with industry partners to help ensure the country’s future offshore workforce is prepared for the opportunities ahead.
