You've spent years engineering wells from the office and standing on the rig floor when it matters. Now it's time to own a campaign that actually moves the needle - not one well, not two, but a full offshore decommissioning programme of 16 to 22 wells on the Dutch continental shelf.
This isn't a role where you inherit someone else's plan and execute it quietly. You're in the room from day one - shaping the design, stress-testing the programme in AWOP, and staying on it through procurement, execution, and close-out. When something changes offshore, you're the one making the call.
What you'll actually do:
You'll build the well decommissioning design documents from the ground up and turn them into operational programmes that hold up under real offshore conditions.
You'll support procurement - helping select the equipment, materials, and service contracts the campaign depends on - and you'll feed logistics what they need to keep everything moving. Well barrier verification, data review, risk assessments: this is where your technical judgment gets tested, not just your paperwork.
You'll run the AWOP exercise (abandon the well on paper) before a single wrench turns offshore, then take the lessons from that exercise and bake them into the real programme. During execution, you'll coordinate contractors and third-party service providers, make sure everyone on location knows their job, and keep well control and safety equipment mission-ready.
You'll take your turn on the duty engineer roster - split evenly across at least three people, so it's real coverage, not a solo grind. And when the campaign closes out, you're the one writing the End of Well Reports and capturing the lessons that make the next well faster and safer.
You'll report directly to the Drilling Superintendent, work shoulder-to-shoulder with the P15 decommissioning team, and have real influence over how this campaign gets delivered - not just how it gets logged.
What you bring:
Why this campaign:
This is a funded, multi-year decommissioning programme - not a maybe, not a "if budget allows." The scope is set, the wells are identified, and the work is real. If you want to be the engineer who wrote the programme rather than the one who just followed it, this is that seat.
