Atlas Next Wave is supporting a leading contractor in the search for Welding Supervisors.
The Welding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all welding activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved welding procedures, project specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. Working closely with QA/QC, NDT, fabrication, and HSE teams, the Welding Supervisor leads welding crews, maintains productivity, and ensures high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise welding activities for piping, structural steel, and fabricated components.
- Ensure welders are qualified for assigned procedures, materials, and welding positions.
- Review WPS, weld maps, production priorities, and qualification records.
- Monitor welding quality, productivity, consumable usage, and repair rates.
- Coordinate inspections and testing with QA/QC and NDT teams.
- Ensure welding equipment and consumables are used safely and properly maintained.
- Identify welding defects, productivity issues, and training requirements.
- Enforce HSE standards, including hot work permits, PPE, fire watch, ventilation, and housekeeping.
- 7-10 years' experience in welding or fabrication, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in oil & gas, pipe fabrication, structural steel, marine, refinery, or heavy industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes.
- Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, isometrics, weld maps, and technical specifications.
- Solid understanding of WPS requirements, welder qualifications, weld defects, and repair control.
Preferred
- CSWIP, AWS-CWI, Welding Supervisor, or equivalent certification.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, AWS, or client-specific welding standards.
- Experience supervising multi-disciplinary welding teams in a high-volume fabrication yard.
