    Painting/Coating Supervisor - Shipyard || 2 Months Contract

    We are seeking an experienced Painting/Coating Supervisor to oversee painting and coating operations on a commercial vessel in a shipyard environment. This role is responsible for supervising crews, coordinating work activities, and ensuring all surface preparation and coating applications are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

    Painting/Coating Supervisor - Shipyard

    We are seeking an experienced Painting/Coating Supervisor to oversee painting and coating operations on a commercial vessel in a shipyard environment. This role is responsible for supervising crews, coordinating work activities, and ensuring all surface preparation and coating applications are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervise painters, blasters, and coating crews during all phases of work.
    • Coordinate surface preparation, masking, blasting, painting, touch-up, and final coating activities.
    • Ensure coatings are applied per specification, including proper surface prep, environmental conditions, and finish quality.
    • Monitor labor, materials, equipment, and production progress.
    • Work with QA/QC, safety, project management, and other shipyard departments.
    • Review work for defects, maintain documentation, and report progress or issues.
    • Enforce safety practices and maintain a clean, organized work area.

    Qualifications

    • Experience in marine painting/coating, preferably in a shipyard, ship repair, or industrial setting.
    • Strong knowledge of coating systems, surface preparation, and application methods.
    • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
    • Familiarity with shipyard safety and quality requirements.
    • AMPP Coatings Inspector Certification or SSPC PCI preferred.
    • AMPP Marine Coating Inspection Specialty preferred.
    • SSPC C7 Abrasive Blasting, C12 Airless Spray Application, and/or C14 Marine Plural Component certifications preferred.
    • FROSIO Inspector Level III or equivalent international coating inspection certification a plus.
