    Atlas Professionals is supporting a leading energy organisation in the recruitment of an experienced Wells Lead to play a critical role in the delivery of major carbon storage projects within the UK energy transition sector.

    Job description

    This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced wells professional to take ownership of well engineering, drilling, completion, operations and integrity activities across a complex carbon storage portfolio. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will provide technical leadership, develop strategic well delivery plans and ensure the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance and technical excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead all well engineering and operational activities across carbon storage projects.
    • Oversee well planning, FEED studies, design and execution.
    • Manage well delivery schedules, budgets and cost performance.
    • Lead legacy well risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with UK carbon storage regulations and industry standards.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities and key stakeholders.
    • Manage interfaces with contractors and supply chain partners.
    • Drive technical assurance, peer reviews and audit activities.
    • Promote a strong safety culture and exemplary HSE performance.
    • Provide leadership and mentoring to a multidisciplinary wells team.

    About You

    The successful candidate will bring:

    • Extensive experience in well engineering, drilling operations, well integrity and well delivery.
    • Significant expertise within carbon storage or closely related energy transition projects.
    • Strong understanding of the UK carbon storage regulatory framework.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and complex projects.
    • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
    • Degree qualified in Engineering, Earth Science or a related discipline, with postgraduate qualifications desirable.
