    First Mate

    Location: Houston, TX
    Employment Type: Full-Time
    Work Arrangement: Onsite - Remote Operations Center
    Rotation: 28 Days On / 28 Days Off (Flexible)
    Shift: 12 Hours per Day

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced First Mate to join an innovative maritime operations team based in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will remotely operate Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) from a state-of-the-art Remote Operations Center, working alongside an experienced operations team to safely manage vessel movements and missions.

    This is a unique opportunity to transition from traditional vessel operations into the rapidly growing field of autonomous and remote vessel technology.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate USVs remotely from the Remote Operations Center.

    • Monitor vessel navigation, systems, and operational performance.

    • Execute missions in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.

    • Maintain situational awareness and respond appropriately to changing operating conditions.

    • Coordinate with the operations team to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.

    • Complete operational logs and maintain accurate documentation.

    • Participate in shift handovers to ensure continuity of operations.

    • Assist with troubleshooting and escalation of operational issues.

    • Maintain compliance with all applicable maritime regulations and company procedures.

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practices.

    Required Qualifications

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

    • Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).

    • Chief Mate Endorsement.

    • 100-Ton Limitation Endorsement.

    • Valid government-issued ID.

    • Strong communication and decision-making skills.

    • Comfortable working in a technology-driven control room environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) License.

    • Experience with offshore, autonomous, or remotely operated vessel operations.

    • Previous experience working in marine operations centers or vessel control environments.

    Schedule

    • 28 Days On / 28 Days Off (flexible rotation).

    • 12-hour shifts.

    • Position is based onsite in Houston, TX.
